A scientist finds a way of becoming invisible, but in doing so, he becomes murderously insane.

Chester Kent produces musical comedies on the stage. With the beginning of the talkies era he changes to producing short musical prologues for movies. This is stressful to him, because he always needs new units and his rival is stealing his ideas. He can get an contract with a producer if he is able to stage in three days three new prologues. In spite of great problems, he does it.

Chorus girls Polly, Carol and Trixie are ecstatic when they learn that Broadway producer Barney Hopkins is putting on a new show. He promises all of the girls parts in the new show and even hires their neighbor Brad Roberts, an unknown composer, to write some of the music. There's only one problem: he doesn't have the money to bankroll it all. That problem is solved when Brad turns out to be quite rich but he insists that he not perform. When opening night comes, the juvenile lead can't go on forcing Brad to take the stage. He's recognized of course and his upper crust family wants him to quit. When he refuses, they tell him to end his relationship with Polly or face having his income cut off. When Brad's snobbish brother Lawrence mistakes Carol for Polly, the girls decide to have a bit of fun and teach him a lesson.

Little Women is a "coming of age" drama tracing the lives of four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. During the American Civil War, the girls father is away serving as a minister to the troops. The family, headed by thier beloved Marmee, must struggle to make ends meet, with the help of their kind and wealthy neighbor, Mr. Laurence, and his high spirited grandson Laurie.

Lisa, a young woman living in the countryside, is going to Stockholm to meet her biological mother, Augusta Magnusson, for the first time since she was an infant. On the train she meets Holger Jönsgård, who has just finished his studies at the agricultural school in Altorp. Holger follows Lisa to her mother's dwelling on the South Side of Stockholm. Augusta is deeply moved when seeing her daughter after all those years. She and her new husband David, together with their neighbors Smulle and Klara Månsson, have prepared a crayfish party in the evening, to which both Lisa and Holger are invited. During the evening Lisa and Holger fall in love. Smulle and Klara have a beautiful daughter, Ingrid, who is courted by two young men. One of them, the wealthy Helge Hagström, lures her away in his car to a hotel outside Stockholm, where he tries to seduce her in her room by night. Ingrid resists, and back home she falls in the arms of her other wooer, the destitute Einar Hallbäck. Helge steals money from his wealthy father, and accuses Einar of the theft, thus hoping to get rid of his rival and win Lisa back.

Renowned Broadway producer/director Julian Marsh is hired to put together a new musical revue. It's being financed by Abner Dillon to provide a starring vehicle for his girlfriend, songstress Dorothy Brock. Marsh, who is quite ill, is a difficult task master working long hours and continually pushing the cast to do better. When Brock breaks her ankle one of the chorus girls, Peggy Sawyer, gets her big chance to be the star. She also finds romance along the way.

The country of Freedonia is in the middle of a financial crisis and on the brink of revolution. In order to gain a bail-out from the wealthy Mrs Teasdale, the government appoints Rufus T Firefly as its president. However, Mr Firefly shuns the pomp and pretentiousness of government; along with the prudence and rationality of it too. Meanwhile, the neighbouring country of Sylvania is plotting to overthrow Freedonia and sends Pinky and Chicolini to spy on Firefly. War seems inevitable.
